About Latitude

The product

Latitude®  Insulation is made from natural recycled sheeps wool which is bonded together with a non-toxic acrylic resin using a patented spray bonding process. The unique resin bonding process gives Latitude® excellent structural integrity allowing it to be self supporting in building cavities. This attribute sets it apart from all other wool insulation products which utilize a wool/polyester mix that results in a softer, less rigid product. Latitude® is the original wool insulation material and has been manufactured in New Zealand since 1994, previously under the WoolBlocTM brand.

Latitude®  can be used to insulate walls, floors, ceiling and roofs of domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. Latitude®  is designed to friction-fit between timber framing or lay in a blanket form. Latitude®  comes in a variety of sizes, thicknesses and R values to suit most building construction. Latitude® contains naturally occurring Boron salts to provide vermin, mould and insect resistance as well as improving the natural fire resistance of wool.

The image below shows a block of Latitude®  R 2.2 insulation showing is stiffness and rigidity which makes it a self supporting friction fit in wall cavities.

Whats in a name?

The name Latitude - Natural Wool Insulation was chosen to reflect the extremes of climate experienced in New Zealand which result from our location on the 42nd Latitude.  One minute it can be hot and sunny and the next cold and wet.  Sheep have adapted extremely well to deal with these changes in climate.  We believe wool insulation is a logical choice to make when insulating your home in this and sim ilar environments around the world.  In addition the name Latitude reflects the fact that sheep grow and prosper between certain Latitudes on the globe.  We believe that Latitude - Natural Wool Insulation is best suited to be used in the same Latitudes as nature intended for sheep to exist.
